Beef Chili – Shopping List

If I were you, I’d make sure I have a few baking potatoes (aka russets) on hand because you might want to make my Chili Topped Baked Potatoes as well. That means you’ll also need to make sure you have sour cream in the fridge!


  •  olive or vegetable oil
  • 1 large yellow onion
  •  garlic
  • 1 lb. ground beef (I use 80%)
  • 2  15.5-16 oz. cans chili beans
  • 1  15.5 oz. can kidney beans (light or dark)
  • 1 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
  •  cayenne pepper, or to taste
  •  sugar
  •  coarse salt
  •  coarse black pepper
  •  ground cumin
  •  chili powder
  • grated cheddar cheese for serving, optional
