You probably have all these ingredients in your kitchen already.
You can store bread in the freezer! In fact, it lasts better in the freezer than it does in the refrigerator. For some reason, when you refrigerate bread, it makes it tough. So unless I know that I’m using it right away, I stash it well wrapped in a freezer bag and just take out slices as needed. It defrosts in mere minutes.
EGG IN THE HOLE
- sandwich bread of your choice — whole wheat, white, rye ~ I use what’s in my pantry or freezer
- unsalted butter
- large eggs
- salt and pepper
