French Bread Pizza – Shopping List

You aren’t going to need the entire baguette (loaf of French bread) for this recipe. I strongly urge you to make my Baked Gruyere Toasts while you’re in the kitchen. They’re easy to make, and you won’t be wasting the other half of the loaf. Another option would be to make a sandwich to  use up the bread.

  • one loaf French bread (aka baguette), 3 inches wide
  • one 4.5-ounce container creamy goat cheese
  • small jar of pesto  (basil sauce) — usually found in the Italian section of a store
  •  tomato sauce (I open an 8-ounce can and save the rest in a jar)
  •  hot pepper flakes, optional — but really delicious
  •  grated Romano cheese — or you can use Parmesan — you need one tablespoon
  • 16 slices (2 1/2-inch diameter) Italian salami– about 1/4 pound
  • one 8-ounce bag of grated mozzarella cheese –you’ll use half the bag
